DAY ONE OF the Little Monster Women’s International Open completed in Spain today with four rounds of matches. Part of the PREDATOR PRO BILLIARD SERIES, the tournament started with 40 players and is now down to the final 32.

Eight players made their way into the single elimination last 16 through the winners bracket, including big guns Wei Tzu-Chien, Kelly Fisher and Jasmin Ouschan. On the one-loss side there are eight matches tomorrow morning, followed by the losers’ qualification round at midday to determine who will be joining them.

One player still battling away is Savannah Easton (USA), who enjoyed a good win over Shirin Volery, before succumbing to Kelly Fisher to leave herself one match away from the last 16.

“I’m really glad I got the win. The first set I think I played pretty well but the second I kind of fell apart a little bit but enough to recover. I love it here, the weather’s super nice, the beach is right there, nice views every time I wake up, so far so good.”

Easton was a silver medallist at the Predator World Junior Championships last year and she goes again when the 2025 event starts on Friday; “I’m feeling very confident this year. Obviously, there’s a lot of good juniors but if I play my game, I believe I can win.”

She also lines up in the Little Monster Mixed Doubles Open, partnering Spain’s Jonas Souto. She said, “We’ve really only goofed around but we’ve never really actually practiced for a mixed doubles but if we both do what we’re usually doing then I’m sure we can play good and hopefully take some money home!”

The aforementioned Fisher is through to the last 16 with two wins, and was pleased with the way it went. She said, “I think overall I played solid. I didn’t miss anything crazy and I potted well. I still love it – I love the travel and the fact that we get to go all over the world. I love competing first and foremost and it’s all I know. I’ve never done anything else and to imagine stopping? I’m loving it and I’m very thankful and grateful that I’ve had that opportunity to do that for my life.

She continued, “The whole of 2025 has been a bit of a struggle if I’m honest, then towards the back end here, I’ve picked up some momentum and fixed a few things mentally and physically. I went from winning heyball in Germany – the European Open – then to winning the World Championship in heyball.

“To switch then and go to America and win the WPBA Dr Pool Classic, I’m really happy with that as I was worried about the switch so I’ve got to be confident. However, I do know what a field of players we have so I’m taking it one match at a time and let’s just see how it goes and I’m going to give it 100%.”
