After 8 days of competition, the 2025 TENGBO Heyball Professional League – Deqing International Open came to a successful conclusion. Chu Bingjie has claimed the title of 2025 TENGBO Heyball International Open champion, defeating Zhang Taiyi 21-19 at the International Exhibition Center in Deqing, China.
Fresh off his World Games triumph last week, Zhang Taiyi then attended the tournament. He defeated his World Games teammate and rival Tang Chunxiao (female) and Chen Wen with two 13-8 to moved into the last 32.
In the single elimination, Zhang Taiyi clearly dominated Meng Fanyu with 13-4 in the last 32. From the last 16, Zhang made his way with victories over Myanmar’s Phone Myint Kyaw 13-6, Zhou Long 15-7, and defeated Shi Tianqi (female) with 17-11, a female player who performed well in this tournament, that earned him a seat in the final match.
His opponent in the final is the 2024 World Heyball Masters champion Chu Bingjie. In the knocked-out stage, Chu looked sharp in the early stages and continued his fine run of form by overcoming Geng Mingqi (13-6), Shen Shenyi (13-7) and Zhang Kunpeng (15-13) to progressed into the semi-finals.
Chu facing off against the current World Heyball Masters champion, Niu Zhuang in the semi-finals, and ousted Niu from the tournament with a 17-7 victory and booked his place in the final match.
In the final, Chu underlined his credentials, overpowered Zhang, winning the match with 21:19 in a thrilling contest to claimed the title along with the top prize of ¥2 million RMB.
Chu said, “Taiyi is capable on all-round player which I ever seen. Quality potting sufficiency with understanding every book of match throughly, and he has boundless potential for the future.”
