Today the four semi-finalists were determined at the WCBS Championship.

A total of six teams from all continents competed in Ankara, Türkiye, in a round-robin mode over the past three days. Today, the last five matches were on the agenda before the two semi-finals, the match for third place and the finals will be played tomorrow.

In the first match today, Asia A celebrated a clear victory against Africa & Rest of the World. Only Meng-Hsia Hung (Australia) was able to win a game for her team, almost all other matches went to the Asians. Only Robbie Capito (Philippines) played a draw against Clark Sullivan from New Zealand in Men’s Pool.

Between Asia B and Europe B, the Asians gained a nice lead in Snooker and Heyball with four wins. Meanwhile, Europe B secured the points in the two 3-Cushion games while they drew the Men’s Pool and Silviana Lu (Indonesia) scored another point for Team Asia B in Women’s Pool.

In the third match of the day, Americas fought Europe A and also scored a win in Men’s Heyball through Alejandro Carvajal (Chile). But more than two more draws in Women’s Pool and Men’s Snooker were not to be achieved in the end. The Europeans proved to be the better team in 3-Cushion as well as in the Women’s Snooker, Men’s Pool and Women’s Heyball.

The following match between Asia A and Europe B was unrivalled in terms of excitement. In 3-Cushion and Snooker both teams shared the points, but in Heyball, the Asians managed to celebrate two more wins. Thus, the decision was made in Pool. Konrad Juszczyszyn (Poland) scored another important win for the Europeans, but Sara Rocha (Portugal) drew against Annita Kan Jaya (Indonesia), so that the bottom line was a razor-thin victory for Asia A.

The last match of the day was Africa & Rest of the World against the Asian B-Team. While in 3-Cushion Africa & Rest of the World managed a win and a draw, the Asians managed exactly the same in Snooker. So, everyone was looking at the matches in Pool and Heyball. In the latter, the Asians won both matches, while Clark Sullivan (New Zealand) won another match in Pool for Africa & Rest of the World. However, since Meng-Hsia Hung (Australia) was defeated by Silviana Lu (Indonesia), the overall victory for Asia B was certain.

Therefore, Europe A, Europe B, Asia A and Asia B have reached the semi-finals, while Africa & the Rest of the World and the Americas are out of the competition. In the semi-finals tomorrow, Europe A will meet Europe B and Asia A will face Asia B.
