THE 10-BALL TOURNAMENTS played out on Wednesday evening at the PREDATOR EPBF European Pool Championships in Antalya and it was gold for Poland’s Daniel Maciol and Ina Kaplan of Germany as they both enjoyed comfortable victories in their respective finals. The stylish Pole enjoyed a white-wash win over Slovakia’s Jakub Koniar while Kaplan had too much for Oliwia Zalewska (Poland), running out a 6-2 victor.
Earlier Maciol had won through the quarters and semis with ease, giving himself an overall 24-5 aggregate for his final three games. Koniar was never in the match, while Maciol made it pay at every visit.

He said, “I mean this is my first gold medal and I feel like I truly deserved that. I played very good matches today and I’m super, super happy that I managed to win the competition. Today, I played a very bad match in 8-ball in the morning and I was feeling very bad and after this match I was trying to recover as good as possible and I did, and playing the next matches was much easier for me. I think I was managing my energy very well in this tournament.
“Maybe the pressure was on me more but I just tried to stay focused and play my pool and I think I managed to finish every single rack in this match and play flawless. I will now spend some time with my friends for sure but the European Championships are still going and my goal, after this title, is to be MVP so I will take some time to recover more and I hope that this is not the end,” he added.
Bronze medals went to Serbia’s Aleksa Pecelj and Michael Schneider (Switzerland).

Ina Kaplan added to her straight pool silver medal with a dominant display to push aside Oliwia Zalewska and claim the 10-ball gold. Earlier she survived a semi-final hill-hill battle with 14.1 nemesis Linnea Hjalmarstrom to set her on her way. Kaplan, who has imperiously ruled the Women’s Euro Tour these past two years, has a less impressive record at the European Championships but it was something she used to her advantage.
She said, “I told myself ‘come on Ina, it’s the Euro Tour, it’s not the European Championship’, you played many Euro Tour finals and won so many Euro Tour titles so what’s the difference and yeah it worked out. It’s really nice, but two disciplines are coming and I’m looking forward to them!”

“I’m just glad that it worked out and I got my gold and I’m over the moon. I’ve played a lot of finals and the European Championships are not my place; the Euro Tour is no problem for me but the European Championships was always hard in the final – I played so many finals and even when I felt really good, I lost in the final so it’s the first time for me as 10-ball European Champion so I had to fight till the end and I did,” she concluded.

Earlier today, the 8-ball events got underway in men’s and women’s categories and continue tomorrow (Thursday) when the Under 23s 8-ball tournament kicks off. In addition, both men’s and women’s team events start in the evening.

Maciol ＆ Kaplan 雙雙收穫個人第一枚歐錦賽10號球金牌
昨日(4日) 晚間，在土耳其安塔利亞舉行的EPBF歐洲撞球錦標賽上，10號球比賽落下帷幕。波蘭選手26歲的波蘭選手 Daniel Maciol 與德國選手 Ina Kaplan 分別在男、女子決賽中都以6-2輕鬆取勝，雙雙奪得金牌。Daniel Maciol 8：0橫掃斯洛伐克選手 Jakub Koniar，而 Kaplan 則以6：2的擊敗波蘭選手 Oliwia Zalewska。
此前，Maciol 在八強與半決賽分別以8-2 (vs David Avakian)、8-3 (vs Michael Schneider) 輕鬆取勝晉級冠軍戰，最終三場比賽總共僅失5局。決賽中，Jakub Koniar (斯洛伐克) 全程毫無還手之力，反觀 Maciol 則把握住了每一次機會並以8-0零封 Koniar 最終輕鬆取勝。
Maciol 說: “這是我的第一枚金牌，我覺得我實至名歸。我今天打得非常好，能夠贏得比賽我真的非常非常開心。今天上午的8號球比賽我發揮得很差，感覺很糟糕。賽後我努力調整狀態，也確實做到了，接下來的比賽就輕鬆多了。我覺得我在這次比賽中很好地調控了自己的體力。”
“或我感到所承受的壓力更大，但我努力保持專注，發揮出自己的水準。我覺得我打完了每一局，並且發揮得非常完美。現在我肯定會和朋友們好好聚聚，但歐錦賽還在進行中，我的目標是在贏得這個冠軍之後獲得MVP，所以我需要一些時間來好好恢復，希望這不會是我的終點。” Maciol 補充道。

Ina Kaplan 先在1/4決賽以6-1壓倒性比數輕取波蘭選手 Monika Zabek，接著在半決賽中與瑞典新生代 Linna Hjalmarstrom 鏖戰至最後一刻，最終以6-5險勝晉級。
最終 Kaplan 在決賽中又以 6-2 大比分差擊敗波蘭好手 Oliwia Zalewska 奪得10號球金牌，這也是 Kaplan 繼獲得 Straight Pool (14-1) 銀牌後的第二枚獎牌。Kaplan 過去兩年在女子歐巡賽上所向披靡，雖然在歐錦賽上的戰績略遜一籌，但她卻將這一劣勢轉化為優勢。
Kaplan 賽後採訪說道：“我告訴自己 ‘加油，Ina，這只是歐巡賽，不是歐錦賽，你打過許多歐巡賽的決賽，也贏過很多歐巡賽冠軍，有什麼區別呢?’，結果證明我的策略是對的。這感覺真好，但接下來還有兩項比賽，我很期待!”
“我很高興最終結果是好的，拿到了金牌，我欣喜若狂。我打過很多決賽，歐巡賽對我來說沒問題，但歐錦賽的決賽總是那麼地艱難。我打過很多決賽，即使感覺狀態很好，最終依然輸掉了比賽。這是我第一次獲得10號球歐洲冠軍，所以我必須戰鬥到最後一刻，而我也做到了。」Kaplan 總結道。”
銅牌由 Linnea Hjalmarstrom (瑞典) 與 Lena Primus (奧地利) 兩位小將獲得。
