The next campaign for the Polish Team Championship title kicks off this Thursday! Billiards Ekstraklasa returns to Galeria Echo in Kielce. Over the coming days, nine top-tier teams will face off in the first three rounds of the competition.
This season’s contenders for the gold include: GKS Katowice, Akademia Bilardowa Rokietnica, Fortis Bilard Kielce, Europool Arkadia Tczew, Fortis II, Strefa Łódź, Bank Spółdzielczy w Sokółce – Piotrowski Żuraw Białystok, and the newcomers – Auta.ch-147 Break Warszawa and TCF HUB-Retro Team Kraków.
The heavy favorite is undoubtedly the star-studded GKS Katowice squad, featuring World Champion Wojciech Szewczyk and world-ranked top player Daniel Macioł. “Gieksa” will be defending the national title they secured in the 2025 campaign.
Last year’s final was a nail-biter, nearly won by the 9-time Polish Champions, Fortis Bilard Kielce. The team from the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship has undergone a generational shift, with veteran Michał Turkowski being replaced by the 17-year-old rising star and freshly crowned Junior World Champion, Jakub Chrobot.

The first session of the season traditionally takes place in Kielce. The inaugural match starts Thursday at 9:00 AM CET, featuring a clash between the reigning champions and the newcomers: TCF HUB-Retro Team Kraków vs. GKS Katowice. A total of 12 matches will be played over three days at Galeria Echo. The season consists of three such sessions, leading to the selection of the top four teams for the Final4.
Billiards Ekstraklasa remains one of the most-watched team competitions in Europe, thanks to its unique gameplay system that guarantees maximum excitement. Matches are decided by doubles pairs, where each subsequent pair enters the game with a lead or deficit built by their predecessors. Every team must field three pairs, utilizing at least four players.
