Filler, Seoa and Chen among invites for $100,000 Vegas event

The Predator Pro Billiard Series has announced the eight invited players who will join the seeded players for next year’s $100,000 Women’s Showdown, creating a stellar line-up of 16 world-class women’s players for the new Las Vegas tournament.

The event will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, from February 27 – March 1, 2024, part of the CueSports International Expo and one of five professional events with over half a million dollars of combined prize money.

The invited players will join those who qualified automatically as the top 8 players on the WPA World Ranking at the cut-off point following the WPA Predator Women’s World 10-Ball Championship in October. The invites have been handed out to current and former champions of major events including multi-time World and European Champions, China Open winners and World Games medallists.

Pia Filler earns a spot after recently lifting the Predator WPA World Teams Championship for Germany. She was also last year’s European 8-Ball Champion.

Seo Seoa has been invited after a breakout year in which she announced herself on the international stage. The Korean has earned over $40,000 in tournament prize money in 2023 with consistent high finishes which have seen her end the year as WPA World No. 6.

Former WPA World Junior Champion Kristina Tkach has added four European Championships and eight EuroTour titles to her résumé since graduating the junior ranks. She began 2023 with bronze in the Kamui World Women’s 9-Ball Championship.

Two-time EuroTour and 2021 European 9-Ball Champion Margarita Fefilova also earns an invite, as does Japan’s World Games bronze medallist Yuki Hiraguchi.

Wei Tzu-Chien of Chinese Taipei took second at the Medalla Light Puerto Rico Open last month as she came close to defending the title she had won in 2022.

Two Chinese players are also invited. Han Yu is a three-time WPA World Women’s 9-Ball Champion and won her third China Open this year. Siming Chen is also a former Women’s World 9-ball Champion and has twice won the China Open.

The eight invited players join those who qualified as members of the WPA World Rankings top eight after the Predator WPA Women’s World 10-Ball Championship in October. They are; Chou Chieh-Yu, the reigning WPA World 9-Ball Women’s Champion, and Chezka Centeno, who won the World 10-Ball Women’s title in Austria in October. Kelly Fisher, Allison Fisher, Kristina Zlateva and Jasmin Ouschan are the four Europeans automatically qualified. Australia’s Bean (Meng-Hsia) Hung will also be seeded, and joining the two World Champions from Asia is Chen Chia Hua (Chinese Taipei).

All 16 players will earn prize money from the event in Vegas. Fans can watch the action with two live streaming tables on the new Pro Billiard TV YouTube Channel.

The Women’s Showdown will begin with a round-robin group stage. Each group will include two seeded players from the WPA top eight and two invited players. The best two players from each group qualify for single elimination.
