The draw for the 2023 European Open Championship set to take place at Hotel Esperanto, Fulda in Germany from August 8-13 is complete with defending champion Albin Ouschan starting out against Poland’s Dawid Brzezinski whilst local favourites Joshua Filler and Thorsten Hohmann will meet Joerg Rywotzki and Bernd Jahnke respectively.
The European Open Championship is one of five 256-player signature multi-table events promoted by Matchroom on the World Nineball Tour with players set to fight through a seeded double elimination stage led by the top 128 on the World Nineball Tour Rankings before only 64 make it to the single elimination rounds.
Stakes are high with a $200,000 prize fund in the offing and the first automatic spots set to be locked in for both Team Europe and USA ahead of the 2023 Mosconi Cup taking place at Alexandra Palace, London from December 6-9 2023.
57 countries will be represented in Fulda with the likes of World Cup of Pool winning duo James Aranas and Johann Chua set to line up whilst some legends of the game will return to the World Nineball Tour including Oliver Ortmann and Tony Drago.
